This Subject is offered at Advanced Higher, Higher, National 5 and National 4 This subject is ideal for pupils who are creative, who have interest in Graphics and enjoy both Computer based work and manual graphic work. This course would suit pupils who are interested in any type of career within the design industry. It also helps pupils understand good visual presentation techniques that can be used in a variety of ways. Art and Design and Design and Manufacture compliment Graphic Communication. The Higher Graphic Communication Course provides opportunities for learners to initiate and develop their own ideas graphically. It allows them to develop skills in reading and interpreting graphics produced by others and to continue to develop graphic awareness in often complex graphic situations, expanding their visual literacy. The Course provides skills that are complementary to other curricular areas, such as expressive arts, sciences, and mathematics. It provides skills that are valuable for learners in the other areas of study in the technologies. The Course at both Higher and National 5 consists of two mandatory Units 2D Graphic Communication This Unit helps learners develop their creativity and skills within a 2D graphic communication context. 3D and Pictorial Graphic Communication This Unit helps learners develop their creativity and skills within a 3D and pictorial graphic communication context. Recommended entry Higher - National 5 Graphic Communication Course N5 – National 4 Graphic Communication Assessment: Graphic Communication Project (Higher /National 5) At Higher and National 5 to gain the award of the Course, the learner must pass the two Units as well as the Course assessment; this will provide the basis for grading attainment in the Course award from an A to a D. There will also be a written exam. |
